Turnings.
Turnings on this web site are accomplished in the classic styles of
the modern day wood turners although many personally fashioned
tools, innovative techniques, and unusual finishes are employed
especially on more contemporary pieces such as spiral turnings and
furniture.
Most of the furniture pieces are one of a kind design;
hand made with tender loving care, and may be described as useable
art. The approach taken is that of Shibui. That is, beautiful
elegance, reserved reticent tranquility, refinement, functionality
and simplicity through subtle artistic but immense non-discernable
complexity in design.
The many shapes, curves, and forms of nature
are instrumental as the impetus to creating the functional as well
as artistic turnings. All pieces are intended to be viewed as art
objects but have a universal utility as well.
